I really thought I knew all about squash, but clearly I was missing one specific variety in my life.
Meet Mr. Turban…the “crowning glory” of all squash.
Just take a look at this beauty. It really does look like a turban or better yet, a crown. Right?
Turban squashes are unmistakable by their appearance and have a deep nutty flavour. Some turbans have bright orange and green colours, like the ones I found, while others are smaller with dark green skin, such as the buttercup squash.
All have a distinctive large bottom base and smaller top half. By the way, I’m built the same way.
This specific variety, much like other forms of squash, can be roasted, mashed, stuffed or boiled. Any way you decide to cook them, they are delish.
I love the way they look. To be honest, I’m tempted to wear one on my head.
Now this is one variety of squash you don’t want to miss, especially since it’s a super delicious vegetable to incorporate into your cozy fall recipes.
