Jingle & Mingle White Dessert Bar

Tis’ the season to jingle and mingle, and there’s no better way to do so but to serve up some beautiful sweets in style.

Can you believe it is already the end of the year? All of a sudden, the summer was over and I was seeing all kinds of magical seasonal products at HomeSense Canada (HomeGoods in the USA). Then, just like that, November sneaked up way too fast on me! This is a time of year that bloggers like myself start preparing shoots for the holidays. So, if you’re wondering about hosting Christmas in October, well, this was it!

This year, I chose to go with a white theme to display all the beautiful desserts and a signature cocktail for guests to enjoy.

One of the most beautiful things about the holiday season is the wonderful opportunity to do something unique and elegant when celebrating with your family and friends.

Planning and hosting a white Christmas party is a unique way to bring the elegance and memorability of a themed event, creating the perfect party atmosphere for enjoying the glittering snow-covered winter holiday celebrations. And speaking of glitter. It’s all over the house now! Even our kitty is sparkly.

When you set the table for your white Christmas party dessert display, be sure to use white tablecloths and risers for your backdrop. I did this with boxes, napkins and a tablecloth. Plus, I added two fluffy white runners to give the illusion of warmth and coziness. Then I made a multi-leveled, all white display, covered in delectable, white Christmas-themed edible items. A sure fire win to make this display eye catching and simply beautiful.

When considering what to serve on this dessert bar, there were so many white dessert and drink recipes on Martha Stewart. Here’s what I found that blended so perfectly with white menu:

Coconut Topped Cupcakes

Basic Shortbread Cookies

Mini White Donuts

Swiss Meringues

Homemade Marshmallows

White Russian Egg Nog Shooters

White Chocolate Pretzels

Now, let’s talk about the decor. When you choose to throw an all white party, you are setting yourself up for some very creative decorations. Utilize combinations of any of these (or use them all) to transform your dessert bar into a blizzard whiteout winter wonderland. I made two DIY components for this tablescape and both were very easy. Even though I’m not great with a drill, my husband stepped in to make the holes I needed for this wooden garland.

What you will need: 40 -50 equal sized tree branches (4 inches long), Martha Stewart Craft Paint (diluted), twine, 10 small wooden stars or trees and a drill.

Next, I spray painted a tree branch silver and used Martha Stewart Craft paint with glitter. How easy what that?

Top tips for hosting an all white dessert bar.

  • White tablecloths, linen napkins, plates and cake stands
  • Fun white and silver Christmas decor
  • Chalkboard display
  • Faux snow
  • Add in an organic touch with evergreen tree branches

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy and healthy holiday season.
