World’s Best Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
I have to say that I have been making this banana bread recipe for over 25 years and it is still my boys favourite. No wait. It’s their second favourite. Their number one pick for banana bread was a recipe that our babysitter used to make for them about 30 years ago! She never left me the recipe most likely because there wasn’t a recipe. She was like my mom. Always measured with her eyes.
Suffice to say, this recipe is always a winner. It’s a one bowl wonder with a super moist interior and a crunchy exterior. I can’t even tell you how amazing our house smells when this is baking in the oven. The second you walk in from outside you know that something sinfully good is going on in the kitchen. Seriously, there’s nothing more delicious than a warm slice of banana bread slathered in salted butter.
Dead ones to be exact.
I consistently kill my bananas on the counter and wait until they have reached the point of no return but yield a deliciously decadent after life in this bread. FYI. Bananas, plants and the occasional bug are the only things I kill.Once the bananas get those brown freckles, It’s time to bake with them. If your bananas are ripe and ready but not ready to bake, just put the whole banana, in a freezer bag. When you’re ready to use them just defrost them in the refrigerator overnight or in the microwave on defrost and you’re good to go! Don’t stress if they turn mushy once they have been frozen. Perfectly normal and you’re going to end up mushing them up anyways.
Enjoy a slice of heaven for a special breakfast treat, midday snack or end your day on a high note and have it for dessert. I still love delivering one of these for my boys and their families. I think what actually happens is that they slice it and hide it in the freezer without telling anyone it arrived warm and fresh.
Not gonna lie. I truly believe this is THE BEST BANANA BREAD RECIPE in the world. Why? Not just because I say it is, but it is in fact delicious. Give it a try and let me know if you feel the same way.
