The perfect shoe for a late summer getaway TO ITALY!

I have been planning a vacation for us to go to Italy for so many years I can’t believe we finally did it. Italy is bar none one of the most fabulous places on earth and we both thought we were dreaming when we landed and began touring Florence, Sorrento and Rome.

During the last few months, I researched so many things in the “Italy travel tips” category including what we were going to put on our feet to walk around each region we visited. My requirement was very simple.

What would be comfy to wear during our many hours of walking through the hills and cobblestone streets of Florence, the Amalfi Coast and Rome?

Let me just say, I tried on many brands of sneakers and could not pin down one pair that I could say was 100% comfortable for my personal needs. Yes, I have “feet issues” which makes my quest for the perfect shoe almost impossible. I also wanted to make sure that my husband would be just as comfortable in his shoes because trekking through Italy is not something that comes without at least 15,000+ steps in day.

Well folks, I found the most incredibly versatile shoes for us that checked all the boxes. These Vessi shoes truly fit all of our travels needs. They were not only waterproof but also super light and comfortable for exploring throughout every single city and town we visited. We were given the opportunity to try out two of Vessi’s products plus an accessory. I received the Women’s Weekend Vessi and my husband received the Men’s Stormburst Lowtop Vessi. We also received a really cool Shoreline Belt Bag which my husband has claimed as his travel accessory. We then put them all to a test on our vacay!

I’m so pumped to tell you all about them but first can we please talk about how stylish these Vessi’s are?

I mean, come on. They literally go with any outfit and kick up a casual look for any time of the day or night. I did not want a clunky looking sneaker to wear with my dresses and skirts and these enhanced every single outfit I wore during the day and into the evening. My hubby also rocked his Vessi’s with all his outfits too! I think he thought he was a Vessi model in this photo.

Okay, so let’s get to all the “good deets” on these shoes. First and foremost, I have to admit that I had never heard of Vessi shoes until I Googled – “Most Recommended Sneakers for Travel in Europe“.

I was thriled to learn that Vessi is a Canadian brand! They’re a Vancouver based and founded brand that’s famous for selling waterproof shoes. Yes, that’s right. W A T E R P R O O F. I walk a minimum of 8K per day 5 -6 days and week and had no idea that there was even such a thing as a waterproof sneaker. Where have these been all my life!

Leave it to Vessi to develop a one-of-a-kind 100% waterproof KNIT sneaker! How is this even possible? Well, Vessi doesn’t “MESSY” around. They don’t use a waterproofing chemical that wears away, the “waterproof factor” comes from the fabric of the shoe. TOTALLY GENIUS VESSI!

Bravo!

You might be wondering if a waterproof shoe is heavy and not breathable. It was still quite warm in Italy in early September and not once did our feet feel hot and sweaty. The key factor to making their shoes this comfortable is Vessi’s Dymatex material.

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about the light knit material being waterproof. We did get caught in a few heavy downpours in all the cities we visited and believe it or not the water levels on the streets created huge puddles where our feet were submerged halfway up. When we returned to the hotel we could not believe that our socks and most importantly our feet were completely dry!

I loved how our Vessi’s performed and without a doubt can say that they will always be a travel essential shoe for us. Here’s an added bonus. My Vessi’s took the toll of the muddy areas we walked through and I knew that my Women’s Weekend Vessi’s were machine washable so I put them to the test.

BUT…..

Instead of using my washing machine which was full of our travel laundry, l placed mine in the DISHWASHER on a gentle cycle and guess what? They emerged perfectly clean and ready for our next adventure!
