Thanksgiving Pie Bar

One of my favourite holiday’s is Thanksgiving. A time to reflect on what we are blessed with and an opportunity to spend precious moments with family and friends.

This year, I wanted to showcase some of Martha’s recipes by creating a Pie Bar for my guests to enjoy.

First of all, I love anything to do with buffet style serving. Let your guests pick and choose their favourite pie flavours straight from the bar! The best part is, you can mix and match your pie selections to suit your tastes.

This Thanksgiving, you can not only please your pumpkin pie fans but you will also be making others happy too with a Build-Your-Own-Pie-Bar.

It’s a snap to get started. Just find a good place in the house to display your pies. I went with the buffet I have in my living room, as it is wide and long enough to set up your bar. Make sure you have enough cake stands of different heights to give dimension to the display.

Set out your plates and cutlery and then go to town with fall themed decor. Always incorporate organic items into the buffetscape. I used an assortment of freshly fallen leaves from the yard and real white mini pumpkins from the local farmer’s market. Intertwined with all the tableware are some fabulous seasonal decor items I found at HomeSense Canada (HomeGoods in the USA).

I created a cute DIY project for this bar. An easy garland made with string and different kinds of ribbon. You can put this together in less than 30 minutes and it can be used to decorate just about any area of the house. I strung it across my buffet and it looked so pretty with the Thanksgiving themed Pie Bar.

I also used cardstock paper to create the “pie bar” lettering for my focal point backdrop. Super fun and easy to do with clothespins on a wooden board.
